Our mission is to promote a safe, healthy, and educational environment for the advancement of aquatic recreation in Horry County.

From 2012-2016 the "Carolina Paddle Company, LLC" operated as a for profit business. At the end of 2016 the business closed and on January 12, 2017 the "Carolina Waterman, Inc." was formed. We are organized as a non-profit organization in the State of South Carolina. We are currently pursuing a 501(c)(3) standing with the IRS.

"Don't get set into one form, adapt it and build your own, and let it grow, be like water. Empty your mind, be formless, shapeless like water. Now you put water in a cup, it becomes the cup; You put water into a bottle it becomes the bottle; You put it in a teapot it becomes the teapot. Now water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend." - Bruce Lee

Our community has been abundantly blessed with public waters. Our organization develops programs with the intent of better educating our community about these public waters and the variety of ways to safely enjoy them. We aim to protect our natural resources by getting people in and on our waters with educational experiences. In order to ensure the safe and reasonable access to our public waters we actively participate in public discussion about the rights of the public to access public waters. We also devote a portion of our efforts towards beautification through litter reduction, whether that's conducting beach/river sweeps or boat landing cleanups it is crucial that we protect the health of our waters by reducing our footprint. Water quality is another area of focus related to our mission; considering our community finds the majority of their drinking water from the Waccamaw River it is imperative that our community supports the efforts to keep our waters clean. The local wildlife is one of the most enjoyable aspects of our public waters. With increasing human invasion we find more of these beautiful creatures being displaced from their homes and depopulated, protecting our waters includes protecting the local wildlife in and on those waters. One of the last mentioned focuses of the Carolina Waterman, Inc. is our local youth. Our goal is to address every single one of these aforementioned topics by investing in the youth of our community. The only way to change the future is by inspiring the future generations, offering free access to our programs for our local youth is the core focus of this organization.
